We are looking for artists who would like to sell their CDs on our web site.
CDs should meet the following requirements:
- Music should be uplifting and leave the listener with a good feeling. Styles can range from smooth jazz, folk and ballads to pop rock. Rap, heavy metal, and those kind of genres are generally unsuitable.
- Lyrics should meet LDS standards. They should not promote the use of drugs and alchohol, sex and extramarital relationships, hate and violence, or contain profanity.
- Albums sales should not be constrained by exclusive contracts with other distributors. We are, however, willing to work with other distributors for the retail sale of their CDs on our website. We assume Artists have met all licensing requirements and are free to offer their CDs for sale.
- CDs should meet Red Book standards for compact discs. Note: copy-protected CDs do not meet Red Book standards and are not legally "Compact Discs" under the licensing terms by Philips Electronics.
We offer Artists the following terms:
- There is no exclusive contract necessary for selling an artist's CDs on our website.
- Albums are currently sold on a consignment basis. We will only offer albums for sale which we have in stock.
- The artist is free to set the wholesale price of their CDs. We will add a fixed amount to the wholesale price to create our retail price. This fixed amount includes our overhead, shipping costs to the buyer, and reasonable payment for our efforts. As of December 3, 2002, it was $5.45. Please contact us for the current amount.
- With artist's permission, individual songs on the CDs will be made available for purchase and download as an mp3. Artist will receive 50% of profit (sale price less credit card processing fee and sales tax). The predicted selling price will be $.99 per song. This feature should be available soon.
- Purchased CDs will be immediately shipped to the buyer at our expense (generally the next business day). Utah residents usually receive their purchase within one or two business days of shipping.
- We create a button ad for each album which is rotated with other ads on the pages of our site. We also display these ads on other websites used by Emerald Bay Records to promote record sales.
- Statistical information will be provided to the artist regarding their record sales and the number of times each of their tracks have been played.
- Buyer's are encouraged to sign up for a newsletter which will include ads for albums we carry. News regarding artists will also be featured in the newsletters. In this way, artists can reach our entire newsletter base without the effort and expense of maintaining their own mailing lists and newsletters.
- Each album submitted will be featured on the home page and in a newsletter.
- CDs submitted for sale online will be returned at artist's request.
To Sign Up
- We need an initial inventory of five CDs of each title you wish to sell (one of each title will be opened to scan artwork and create streaming media). As CDs are sold, we will request additional CDs to replenish our inventory.
