Jay Young Jay Young possesses a rare mix of power and tenderness in his baritone voice. He can sooth a troubled heart or paint a picture with words. Jay started singing publicly at the age of three. He was heavily involved in music while in high school and college, but put music on the back burner when he decided to get "serious" about his schooling. After graduating, Jay focused on raising his young family and started his career in the law. The music bug kept biting him over the years, though, reminding him of his love of the art, and he would willingly sing for a variety of functions and occasions when invited. Jay grew up in a family that placed a strong emphasis on music; it has become an integral part of his own family. In fact, before Jay ever learned his future wife's name, he had a friend ask if she enjoyed music, and then more specifically if she played the piano. He knew music would always be a part of his life and vowed never to date anyone who did not play piano. Jay plays (saying that he "plays" is being generous) guitar and loves to hum and strum with his children and around the campfire. Despite his obvious talent, Jay has had no formal musical training beyond a few voice lessons, singing in an occasional church choir, and many evenings singing around the piano with family and friends. Jay’s vocal talent is a gift from God. Although he suffered significant hearing loss from childhood illness, he has been blessed with a rich, full, and soothing tone that immediately captures the listener’s attention. As a featured soloist for the Grammy Award-winning Saints Unified Voices choir, Jay has thoroughly enjoyed sharing his love of music with the world.
